Cycling the N.A.P.-route

From June 19th-26th 2007 Jan and Gonny cycled along the imaginary coastline of the Netherlands if we didn't have dunes and dykes along the North Sea-coast. They sent a postcard nearly every single day, usually acompanied by one of Gonny's sketches. The route they cycled can be viewed at GoogleMaps.

The first postcard

Help! ... cycled about 30km from Antwerp, not counting the ride Kampen Zwolle. Our first address to stay over is fabulous, with lawns, hedges, flowerbeds and even a swimmingpool outside. In a barn there's a donkey.
In Antwerp itself it was terribly difficult to find the right way! A beautiful ride along a canal up to here made up for it. (very warm!)
Lots of love from Gonny and Jan.

Day two, ± 19:00 o'clock

Hello Lisa,
After having cycled for ± 50 km. from Belgium (In total up to now about 100 km, but really it's not important those kilometers) we are now in 's Gravenmoer and we have the whole topfloor to ourselves.
Beautiful (cycling)weather today. We made a couple of wrong turns but ended up back on route every time. (We had the wind in our corner)
Tomorrow we'll stay the night in Vianen (close to you)
Later we plan to explore the surroundings, maybe make another sketch.
Lots of love from Gonny and Jan.

Today Thursday

A different address to stay. On an atticfloor in Vianen! After a ride of sixty kilometers up two steep stairs! View of all small roofs.
It's nearly six o'clock, later we are going to eat somewhere and have a look around in Vianen. It looks as if it's a beautiful city.
Had a lovely ride today, dry with at the end some splatters.
I think us oldies will probably be able to complete this tour.
Lots of love from Gonny and Jan.

A card from Jan!

Hi Lisa,
Today the 21st arrived in Vianen. Tomorrow takes us through Utrecht. We have booked an address in Bunschoten-Spakenburg.
Best regards,
Gonny and Jan.

22-6-7

Spakenburg is where we are now.
Just out of Vianen this morning we lost the plot again. Over the Lekbridge not a sign in sight. We got lost in the suburbs of Nieuwegein. Try finding your way out of that!
In the end, after a lot of questions, we got back on track again. Around Utrecht, through Bunnik it turned out to be a beautiful ride.
23-6 Elburg 19:00 uur
This is where we'll stay the night. This is the first day we had to cycle in the rain. We did have a strong wind in our favour. That helped!
Love from Gonny and Jan.

24-06-07 13:45

Agnietenberg, Zwolle. Nice lunch: Salad with smoked chicken, yumm. Our goal for today is Hasselt and we don't know if we can eat something there (Sunday). We are saving our packed lunch in case.
Strong wind today. We were more or less blown here. Inkblack skies behind us...
18:45 Hasselt
A whole floor on the Baancanal to ourselves. (By the way, not a spot of rain today) Visited with Janny de Jonge.
21:30
Now the rain ticks on the roof. Nice and cosy! We'll see what tomorrow will bring. Bye Lisa.
Love from us, Gonny and Jan.
